Christmas in September

Starting to think about Christmas decorations and wanted to use some of my favorite My Mind's Eye Christmas paper...so I pulled out the 7 Gypsies artist tray I got for Christmas LAST year from the top shelf of my closet, dusted it off and put it to good use! I just love these trays! They are so pretty and easy to decorate. This only took about an hour and I was able to use up a bunch of embellishments from my stash! **wink**

Journals

I saw some beautifully decorated journals at Dear Lizzy when we were in Utah for Spark and decided I would make a few for Christmas. I bought some very inexpensive (50 cents!) composition books at WalMart and set about to pretty them up with some of House of 3's Fall Junque (cannot seem to get enough of it!) and some great metal embellies from Making Memories. My sweet Mom would love to be a blogger but we haven't had time to get her all set up online, so she keeps a journal that we refer to as her blog--I made this one for her.

Blinged Out Hat

We saw a fabulous cadet hat at Spark and my girlfriend, Suzanne, remarked that she would love to have one. It was black with several flowers and lots of rhinestones and bling--just darling! I told her I would make her one...and then when we got back home I was really wishing I had taken a picture of it! I found a black cadet hat at Wal-Mart, added tulle and flowers made with fabric from Joann's, and then threw on lots of bling from Michaels. It's not the same as the one we saw--but I hope she likes it!

DORK

My sweet friend, Kim, put all of the pics we took at Spark on a DVD for me and I just picked it up from her! I am really excited to start my scrapbook of the trip--especially after the fun Spark recap webshow on House of 3 Wednesday night! There is a ton of Spark goodness on their site right now, just in time for all of us Sparkies to get our scrap on! **wink**

Part of the reason I was so over-the-top excited to attend Spark was the fact that many of my creative idols were going to be there! I went ahead and gave myself permission to act like a big dork and ask if they would mind taking a picture with me. Of course they were super sweet and said YES, although they may have been thinking "Ummm...you're nearly 40 yrs old...get a life!". Still, it was great fun for me to meet the people who inspire my creativity day after day!

Here I am with Heidi Swapp, who was not actually teaching but made a surprise visit, and Janet Hopkins, who taught my very favorite class at Spark. She is extremely funny and just a sweetheart!

Margie Romney-Aslett and me! She is just the coolest chick evah! We got to celebrate her birthday with her on Saturday.

Cutest pregnant girl in the world: Elizabeth Kartchner! Her style and fun personality are amazing! Love her!

Lollies!

I am really getting into decorating for Halloween this year! Probably has something to do with all the amazing Halloween inspiration over at House of 3! Last week Teresa Collins had a great tutorial on creating lollies so I went a little nuts and made about 10 of them. They are so easy--yet so fun! I decided to put together a few of these little decorations using inexpensive glass canisters I found at Michaels, some unpopped popcorn, a fabulous spooky tree from HO3 (printed on clear vinyl cling paper) and, of course, a few lollies hot-glued to little wooden dowels. My poor family will probably see these around the house for every holiday now because I love them so much...I can see some Christmas and Valentine's Day ones in our future!

Ready or not, HERE WE COME!

Three of my besties and I are heading to SLC tomorrow morning to attend Spark! I am absolutely beside myself excited! I so need a break from the everyday--and can't wait to just spend 3 days crafting and chatting and eating! What could be better than that to get away and recharge?

Teacher Gift

Cale's new teacher's birthday was last Friday, so I decided to make a little something to help her celebrate. I got the idea from the most recent "Scrapbooks, etc" and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I think I'm going to make some for my girlfriends with a Fall theme and use unpopped popcorn and candy corn as the filler. You can't see it in these photos, but I printed a fun House of 3 goodie that says "Enjoy this Day" on ink-jet clear vinyl and stuck it to the glass container. (I'm loving the printable vinyl from Staples that Rhonna Farrer showed on one of the HO3 webshows...feeds through your printer just like regular paper!)
