More Twisted Fun!

Over the weekend I finished up Sketch 42 for Twisted Sketches. The twist was "flight" so I added some butterflies to my layout. Stretching a bit, I know--but they say "anyhow, anyway" so I'm counting it! :)

Hope your week is starting off well! I hate to jinx myself, but it seems that spring is finally here! We're supposed to have temps in the 70's and 80's all week--yippee!

The Terrible Threes have arrived!

I remember people telling us back when Cale was two years old that age three was worse than two...and they were right! Something happens at three that makes them just a tad more difficult to deal with! Kendall's only been three for a few weeks but she is full-blown acting every bit of THREE. Bless her heart, I think she just wants to be more independent but doesn't understand that she can't do everything by herself. She's been through so many important changes in the last month: she became potty-trained (hallelujah!), she started sleeping in a big-girl bed, we started a ballet class...and she just thinks she's all grown up! She is still so sweet most of the time that I want to kiss her little face off, so I know we'll get through this phase!

Brief conversation last weekend:

Daddy to Kendall: Who's my little princess?
Kendall: I am, Daddy, but I'm awfully grumpy!

Twisted Sketches!

Those gals at Twisted Sketches never fail to inspire me and get my creativity going! The twist on the sketch this past week was "green" . I'll admit it was a bit tough for me to get started as green is not one of my favorite colors and I am certainly not "green" in the recycling sense...but I found one of my favorite candid shots of Cale with tons of green in the background and knew it would be perfect! Here's the sketch and my take:

She's a Supermodel!

Guess who showed up in the March edition of the Basic Grey newsletter? My own little Kendall! I submitted a picture of Kendall with her fabulous new quilt that my mom made using Basic Grey's Sultry line and they used it in their latest newsletter! Made my whole week! I think my mom was pretty excited too--she deserves the praise! The quilt is so beautiful! (Click here to see the entire newsletter.)

Oh My Sassafras!

It feels good to be back to my blog! I've had a bit of a crazy March: Kendall turned 3, my family came in town for a week (and we had SO much fun!), the company I work for merged with another company, and I am trying hard to finish my CMPS. Busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Back in February I won a little challenge on the Sassafras blog with this Valentine's Day card I made for my husband:

Well, Friday afternoon I received the most amazing package full of brand spanking new Sassafras products from the Apple Jack, Cherry Delicious and Nerdy Bird lines! I am in heaven! Here's a peek at the goodies:

Can't wait to get started creating!

March Magpie Sketch Challenge!

Another brilliant sketch for the Magpie Club March challenge! I used bits and bobs from some of my past Magpie kits, which eases the guilt just a bit for buying the new kits when the old ones are not used up! I really must get better about that! :) I have so much respect for Tara---she tortures herself every month by actually choosing the layout that speaks to her, rather than generating a random number and letting fate choose. So much more fun that way! And the winner gets to be a guest designer the following month on her fabulously entertaining blog.

Here's the sketch Tara's using this month:

And here's my take:

Thanks so much for looking!

American Crafts Postmarked Week Challenge!

American Crafts had a fun challenge this week: create a card using 2 or more American Crafts products. What a great opportunity to use up the odds and ends of some of my favorite AC collections! I have been making more and more cards lately--I think I like how quickly they go, compared to a 12X12 layout where I agonize over every bit and bauble! The relative instant gratification of a card makes me feel like I've accomplished a little something creative without spending hours and hours.

I made this card for my husband to thank him for all the cleaning he did this weekend in anticipation of my family coming in town tomorrow. He has been such a doll---sweeping out the garage, running to Costco for me, picking up the dreaded playroom in the basement. He even cleaned the mud, salt and gunk out of the rubber floormats in my car after the crazy winter we've had! He's a keeper!

Just eight more days until my little princess turns 3!

Canvas Decor

I visit Studio Calico's blog several times a week for the most amazing inspiration! I love that they take the time to provide tutorials for the projects they showcase...and when I saw this one involving gesso, glimmer mist, and an artist's canvas, I knew I had to try it! I'm slowly but surely decorating my little craft room and thought this project might be a good addition.

Here's the beautiful project Sasha posted on the SC blog:

I opted for a 12X12 canvas to fit with my other decor, and chose a different quote:

I'm relatively happy with how it turned out since this was my first go at it. The process was so easy I'll definitely try it again! Thanks for looking!

My Cutie Patootie Parents

I'm in week 9 of "Design Your Life" with Cathy Zielske at Big Picture Scrapbooking and am having so much fun! I have learned so much that will hopefully allow me to become a better scrapbooker. I can't believe there are only 3 weeks left--I am going to be so sad when class is over! This week we mainly focused on the element of "lines" and Cathy gave us a great sketch for her "Real World Color" assignment. The color scheme she gave us was light shades of green, some orange, black and white (I ended up subbing brown for the black to match my patterned paper). I used one of my favorite pictures of my parents from the late sixties...they just look so sweet together! They're just as cute together now, too. Still best friends, still in love, still writing each other little love notes. They've been great role models for me and my own marriage. They are coming to visit next week with my darling Grandma Lou--can't wait!

March Scrapbook Kits!

I just love the beginning of a new month because that means my two favorite scrapbook kit clubs, Magpie Kit Club and Freehand Scraps have their new kits ready to go!

Tara at Magpie always has two kit choices available: the main kit and the credit crunch kit. Both are fabulous! (The credit crunch kit is offered at $12.50 plus shipping which is so affordable!) This month I opted for the credit crunch kit because it is chockablock full of sports-themed goodies...and I need to get caught up on my son's soccer, football and basketball photos. Here's a peek at the kit:

Isn't it amazing?

I also adore Heidi at Freehand Scraps who stocked her March kit, called "Clothespin", full of exciting new tidbits from CHA-W! Can't wait to get my hands on it!

I'll be one happy girl later in the week when the boxes arrive on my doorstep! WOOHOO!

Happy Monday!
